Cliff Yates was born in Birmingham. His collection Henry's Clock (Smith/Doorstop) won both the Aldeburgh prize and the Poetry Business book & pamphlet competition. He lives in the North West, teaches at Maharishi School and is the author of Jumpstart Poetry in the Secondary School (Poetry Society).
