Social Lives

Here, nobody works and everyone smokes.
They all inherited things from their parents
that they won’t talk about. Jamie went tobogganing
on an old tea tray on a hill on the estate.
The wind was up and it was a blast.
Jen says that she is going down
to the pub in the village with the others,
but doesn’t come back all night.
She was seen getting into some boy’s
car, heading east towards the Ridings.
Jasper keeps the handbrake on
as he walks his supercharged bulldog
on a very short leash across the park.
The view from up here in the manor
