Elaine Beckett originally trained as a composer and worked for many years with children with special educational needs. Her Faber pamphlet, Faber New Poets 13, was published in 2016. With Arts Council Support she received mentoring from Sinead Morrissey who encouraged the development of her first collection, Sea Creature Regrows Entire Body (Verve Poetry Press, 2021). The title poem was published in Poetry Review and shortlisted for the National Poetry Competition. Recent readings include Verve Poetry Festival, Ledbury International Poetry Festival, Brasenose College, University of Oxford, and the Aldeburgh Poetry Festival.
