Hafez (14 th century, Shiraz, Iran) is a celebrated medieval Persian mystic poet, thriving alongside figures such as Rumi and Saadi. Interpreted variously as ardent mystic and lover, Hafez can still benefit from an essentially Sufistic rendering into English, one that allows the reader full access to his powerfully ecstatic/distraught states whilst remaining broadly true to the originals.

Hafez's work featured in Stand Magazine comprises one contribution of poetry.
