John Carneson is the South African author of The John and Ntombi Story: a memoir of their love and times (2022) for which Wits university awarded him an MA in Creative Writing. It includes images, fantasy and poetry. Before retiring he was an educationist while in exile in Europe and Africa, and after returning to South Africa. Writing short fiction kept him sane after switching careers to head policy, strategy and planning at Home Affairs. Another of these stories was published recently in The Brussels Review, and he now writes full time.
